New financing scales up support for smaller businesses and green investment
24 September 2026 – The Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB) has signed a EUR 15 million credit line with O.C.N. Microinvest S.R.L., the leading non-bank financial institution in Moldova, to expand access to finance for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and support green investment across the country.
By channeling funding through Microinvest’s nationwide network, the facility is expected to reach entrepreneurs and smaller businesses that are often underserved by traditional banking channels. At least 50% of the facility is expected to support eligible green investments, including energy efficiency, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture and other climate-related activities.
The operation builds on BSTDB’s first EUR 10 million MSME and green credit line to Microinvest, signed in 2024. By end-2025, the first facility had supported 233 sub-loans, including 63 eligible green sub-loans.
“Access to finance remains essential for smaller businesses to invest, grow and adapt. Our partnership with Microinvest enables BSTDB financing to reach businesses across Moldova, while also supporting investment in more resource- and energy-efficient activities. Building on the strong results of our first operation, this new facility reinforces our commitment to Moldova’s private sector and sustainable economic development.” – Dr. Serhat Köksal, President of BSTDB
“Entrepreneurs need access to financing at the right moment, when an opportunity or investment need appears. This new agreement with BSTDB gives us more resources to support businesses across Moldova in their development, including investments in energy efficiency and sustainable solutions. We value the trust built through our first partnership and are glad to continue creating more opportunities for entrepreneurs in every region of the country.” – Dumitru Svinarenco, CEO Microinvest
