Members of the French National Assembly, together with representatives of French Development Agency (AFD) Group, including our partner Proparco, visited FRUCTMER SRL, a family-owned agricultural business supported through Microinvest financing, to see firsthand how international partnerships contribute to the modernization and increased competitiveness of agriculture in the Republic of Moldova.

The field visit, organized by Microinvest, provided an opportunity for direct dialogue with the entrepreneur and offered a practical perspective on how access to long-term financing supports business development, investments and sustainable growth.
Located in the village of Zimbreni, Ialoveni district, FRUCTMER SRL specializes in the cultivation of strawberries, raspberries and grapevines. In recent years, the company has consistently invested in modern technologies to improve productivity, product quality and operational efficiency. Recent investments include the implementation of a modern irrigation system and the use of premium varieties imported from the Netherlands. At the same time, the company is preparing a new investment in modern packaging equipment, which will streamline post-harvest processes. Today, FRUCTMER products reach both the Moldovan and Romanian markets, demonstrating the growing potential of Moldovan agricultural producers to compete successfully on external markets.

During the visit, the delegation discussed with the entrepreneur the evolution of the business, the investments made, the current challenges facing the agricultural sector and the company’s development plans for the coming years. The discussions highlighted the concrete impact that responsible financing can have on the modernization of a business, the strengthening of competitiveness and the creation of long-term value for local communities.
Such visits offer international partners the opportunity to better understand how development financing translates into concrete investments and measurable results for entrepreneurs. At the same time, they highlight the ambition, resilience and innovative spirit of businesses in the Republic of Moldova, which continue to invest and grow in an ever-changing economic environment.
Supporting entrepreneurs by financing long-term investments is one of Microinvest’s strategic priorities. Through strong partnerships with international financial institutions, Microinvest continues to expand access to finance for businesses investing in productivity, innovation and sustainable development, thereby contributing to the consolidation of a stronger and more competitive economy in the Republic of Moldova.

The partnership between Microinvest and Proparco, initiated in 2022, aims to expand access to finance for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises across the country. The most recent financing, amounting to EUR 15 million, strengthens this collaboration and Microinvest’s capacity to support entrepreneurs, with a particular focus on sustainable investments, the development of the agricultural sector and the increased competitiveness of local businesses.
