Microinvest has successfully completed a new credit facility with Proparco, the private sector financing arm of the French Development Agency (AFD Group). Through this €15 million loan, Microinvest will strengthen its capacity to support Moldovan MSMEs, strengthen the agricultural sector, and promote sustainable and inclusive economic growth with a focus on support to women, young people and migrants.
Since the first loan in 2022, Proparco and Microinvest have built a strong partnership focused on strengthening financial inclusion, particularly for micro, small and medium enterprises. The new financing will further expand access to credit for Moldovan entrepreneurs, stimulate business growth, and promote sustainable economic development across key productive sectors.
The financing agreement concluded in September, will be officially signed during an official event in December, together with Proparco representatives visiting Moldova. The event will mark a new stage in the long-term partnership between the two institutions and will highlight Proparco’s continued commitment to supporting Moldova’s private sector.
This is the third partnership between the two institutions, building on a long-term relationship aimed at supporting Moldova’s inclusive economic growth. The loan benefits from the support of the European Union through the European Fund for Sustainable Development Plus (EFSD+), reaffirming the shared goal of promoting responsible financial inclusion and supporting underserved entrepreneurs.
“This new agreement underscores the strong and long-standing relationship of trust we have built with Microinvest. Together, and with the support of the European Union through the EFSD+, we are contributing to Moldova’s economic transformation by empowering small businesses and local entrepreneurs. Through this financing, we are proud to promote inclusive growth, advance sustainable agriculture, and expand opportunities for women and young people across the country,” said Steven Gardon, Proparco’s Regional Director for Eurasia
“We highly value our partnership with Proparco, which has evolved from a first engagement during challenging times into a long-term collaboration based on mutual trust and shared goals. These funds will enable us to continue financing local businesses and individuals with responsible, transparent and tailored lending solutions,” said Dmitrii Svinarenco, CEO of Microinvest.
This new operation marks another step in AFD Group’s long-term engagement in Moldova, supporting local entrepreneurship, job creation, and economic resilience. It reinforces the partnership’s focus on inclusive growth, gender equality, and youth empowerment, while contributing to Moldova’s sustainable economic development and alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
