Microinvest has signed a direct loan agreement with the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) aimed at strengthening and modernizing business financing in the Republic of Moldova. This represents the largest loan to date for Microinvest, Moldova’s largest non-bank lending institution.
The funds will be used to expand Microinvest’s loan portfolio with a focus on small businesses across the country, particularly in regional areas. By increasing access to financing for local entrepreneurs, including in the agriculture sector, the agreement is expected to generate positive returns, long term economic impact, and market-driven job creation.
Through this partnership, Microinvest further strengthens its capacity to support business growth and promote responsible lending, directly contributing to the resilience and competitiveness of Moldova’s private sector.
“Signing this first loan agreement with DFC represents an important step for Microinvest. It confirms the confidence of a leading international development finance institution in our business model, governance standards, and strategic direction. The financing will allow us to further expand access to capital and enable entrepreneurs to develop new projects, thus contributing to Moldova’s economic development”, – Dumitru Svinarenco, CEO Microinvest.
