Iurie, tell us how your journey in medicine began.
I started my professional career in medicine when I was 19 years old. Over time, life circumstances led me to work in the field of commerce. However, the feeling that medicine was my true calling never left me. The sound of an ambulance always reminded me of my years as a doctor. People who knew about my medical background often came to me for advice – and that finally convinced me to return to medicine.
When did you decide to start your own business and how did it all begin?
I resumed my medical activity in 2013. Back then, it was just a small office equipped with an ultrasound machine. At that time, there were very few such services in Balti, and the need for quality diagnostics was strongly felt. The decision to open my own practice was a well-considered one – with clear goals and big plans for development. Today, Ultramed is a modern clinic with advanced equipment, where dozens of patients undergo examinations every day.
What services does your center offer to patients?
We specialize in medical diagnostics. The main areas are radiology and ultrasound diagnostics. All examinations are performed using modern digital equipment. The center provides X-ray imaging of the skeletal system, digestive system examinations with contrast agents, and ultrasound of internal organs, the thyroid gland, blood vessels, and pelvic organs. We also offer therapeutic massage and electrocardiogram (ECG) services. Our focus is on diagnostic accuracy and the professionalism of our specialists – so that every patient receives reliable results on which proper treatment decisions can be made.
Tell us about your team at Ultramed. Who works with you today?
We’ve built a team of experienced professionals for whom medicine is not just a profession but a lifelong mission. Our center employs doctors in various specialties – a pulmonologist, a surgeon, and a pediatrician who cares for our youngest patients. In addition, Ultramed has qualified specialists in radiology and ultrasound diagnostics. Our staff regularly attend training courses and professional development programs to keep up with modern medical standards.
Can we say this is a family business?
Yes, absolutely. Every member of the family is involved in the work. My son brings fresh ideas and a modern vision, while my wife and I rely on experience and years of practice.

In your opinion, what qualities are most important for those starting their own business?
First – patience. It’s the key quality without which it’s impossible to build a sustainable business, especially in medicine. Patience helps you stay calm, make thoughtful decisions, and avoid panic in difficult situations. It’s also important to listen and analyze – even criticism can bring valuable lessons. Another important piece of advice is to have a financial safety cushion. Any business requires time and investment, and having reserves allows you to feel more confident and make long-term decisions. When you have patience, a clear plan, and confidence in your abilities – success is inevitable.
